Home Improvement means a lot of things to an emotionally and educationally motivated group of people. While some may try to "child proof" the plugs, kitchen cabinet doors, and the coffee table corners there are those folks who believe that little Johnny and Sallie Sue need to improve upon their more artistic side. Yes, what every good mommy and daddy needs to do in order to discover what their child can do with a crayon is to allow them the place and opportunity in which to experiment with their precious little one's mental acuity and artistic ability. In this case, little Johnny was not only allowed the pleasure of coloring in his little Bambi or GI Joe coloring book but the use of all of the walls contained within the entire home. The example I have brought for everyone's pleasure is only one wall which does not do justice to the entire scope of entertainment that can be had by perusing the whole home. For that, I humbly apologize for if I took pictures of even half of this type home improvement, it would eat up every bit of bandwidth that our dear Ken has for the entire week. I think I would find the old meaning of "rearing" appropriate after the 1st wall was so well decorated. by a set of crayons and stamp pad inkings.
How could I have missed your post @Bobby Cole? This is something that I wouldn't dare think about doing especially with a child at a very young age. I did let my grandson who was about six help me strip wallpaper and hold a paint roller soaked in paint until he couldn't hold it any longer and dropped it. My bad. I'm all for encouraging little ones to express themselves artistically but only with supervision. Really, the whole house?
Next step for this child is graffiti! No way would I allow that, shows disrespect for property. Be creative where it's ok.
Yeah, pretty much. Believe it or not but the carpet used to be Berber pearl color. One of the problems was that one person in the house could NOT follow the child around and supervise him and the other just shrugged her shoulders I guess. Let's see, the initial post was about a month or so ago and I am still about a week from finishing it up. I had to peel the carpet and padding out and refinish the hard woods underneath. Because some of the artistry found in the house was indelible in nature I had to deglaze with thinner and prep the art with Kilz which is really, really expensive compared to just painting one or two coats with a good interior paint.
Kilz? I had to google that. It's a brand name of a primer and it is costly. Was the house a rental at that time? I can't imagine the owner's thoughts if it was.
We have no child at home except when the laundry woman comes twice a week to do our laundry. She brings along her granddaughter who is 2 years old so you can imagine the things the little tyke can do to our home. Fortunately, we have 2 housemaids manning the house and they already know that they have to watch the little girl so she wouldn't destroy anything. In fairness to our laundry woman, she's all eyes to her grand child. What's good is that the little girl has a tablet which she plays with. She also learns nursery rhymes from the tablet. It is surprising that the little girl who just turned 2 a few months ago can tinker with the tablet and even select the videos of her favorite nursery rhyme. So far, our house and the contents therein are still intact.
