Do you have favorite crafting Websites or books and magazines, particularly where you find patterns or projects? Sometimes when I do a random Google search when I need a pattern sometimes, I can get really bogged down with the endless pages of results. The same is true for Pinterest, which I have used in the past, but it's just so overwhelming. Sometimes I would like a simple place to just look for what I need and have fewer choices. I do like Ravelry.com for crochet patterns. It is one of the sites I have found to be the easiest to use and provides a good range of patterns, a lot of which are free.
I watch Martha Stewart on facebook or her website for food recipes but she has a lot of craft ideas too. ( I like to craft things I can eat)
Sheldon, I like the way you think. Ha ha. Cooking is fun too, and I definitely like to eat! But yes, Martha Stewart is a good idea. I think that one of my cousins used a Martha Stewart Christmas craft one year at Thanksgiving for our annual Christmas ornament making session. What do you like to cook? I like baking the best, but it is something I don't do as much as I used to as I'm attempting (cough, cough) to watch sugar.
@Diana Kristof I cook a variety of things. Sometimes I'll look at several recipes for the same thing and get ideas to make it best for me. Also when I have an abundance of something from the garden I'll look up new ways to use them. I wish I could eat all I want without .concern about gaining weight.
I do the same thing with recipes. I like to mix and match and see what happens, especially if there is an ingredient I don't like, can't have, or simply don't have on hand. One of my favorite things to change are spices and herbs. I learned a lot about using them just by seeing what tasted good with experimentation.
I also use Ravelry and Pinterest. I will sometimes just look around and then try to figure out my own pattern. If I'm looking for DIY and sometimes craft/crochet ideas, I'll sometimes find them on HGTV/DIY websites, and like Sheldon, I find some on sites such as Martha Stewart, Hobby Lobby, Michael's, Joann's, they have pattern sections where you can gain inspiration, or even find free patterns.
On the Internet, I like Central Crochet (free patterns), and Ebay, (crochet patterns) There is one crochet designer who is fabulous, Louis Lee. I've only come across one of her patterns or should type booklet. She designed the "Prairie Schooner Bunnies I have in my image picture, and wish I could find more of her patterns. Crochet World (magazine).
Mine is not a website, but a tv channel. On Direct Tv it is channel 86. It sells and demonstrates paper crafting. I have been looking for a new hobby and thinking paper crafting might be it. The channel sellas and demonstrates the various supplies and methods of creating holiday cards, as well as, invitations, birthday cards, etc.
This booklet can be bought at Amazon. I want to buy this and a couple of others for the granddaughters. The Christmas one, by Leonard Hospidor ,I'll send out when the oldest is on winter break. There is a Haunted House by Usborne Cut Out Models. Other ones are, A Victorian Seaside Resort, by Edmund V Gillion Jr. and Old Fashion Farm, by A.G. Smith. Most are H-O scale. And aren't expensive. In the neighborhood of $12.00. The boys love them too.
